John's Road to Volunteering
Since my Twitter page went live, it's made a massive impact on my future. Hundreds of followers in a matter of hours, just under 600 blog views within 24 hours and 2 massive opportunities arose in 3 days. With no clue on the likelihood of this happening, I was shocked by the outcome and what was offered.
2 days into my Twitter page going live, Hampshire Cricket tweeted asking to meet. At this current time, I had no experience in this sport but the offer of running and setting up a club on their behalf came about. 1 day after this, YMCA wanted to meet and discuss running another sporting event.
Twitter has made this happen! I've been mentioned in online magazines, websites, twitter posts, you have to work hard to get noticed, getting noticed is a huge accomplishment.
I don't have a strategy when it comes to blogging or social networking as I do this because I love what I do. My tweets go worldwide and I regular keep in contact with local and national sporting organisations with the view of increasing volunteering in sport. Tweeting anyone who has a large number of followers, could be HUGE! In life you have to take risks and think about it. Is it really a bad thing if someone doesn't retweet? No because the people who take notice of what you do retweet, I know as it's happened to my blog.
When blogging and sharing your passion online, you have to believe in yourself! Believing in yourself will make others believe! Isn't that what life's about, believing in yourself?
